It was July 2009 when my life made a big u-turn! I was working for an established Design Agency in Durban when the long arm of the Economic Crisis caught me. I was retrenched and became yet another casualty. Unfortunately the world does not stop and wait for you to pick up the pieces of your life. So I did what so many others did, start my own business! Fortunately for me, my overheads were not too high and I was able to get going on my business straight away. There were some hair raising times where I literally had no money for food let alone pertol. I had spent nearly every cent on my little business to get it going and I have not looked back!

Montague Designs, which is my company, has since helped many others who too were retrenched and started their own business. It’s a great feeling of accomplishment knowing that I designed their logo. That I developed their Website, and because of that they have also found the bright side of retrenchment!
